NOTD Essence in Blue Addicted

I think everyone among you knows the famous Deborah Lippmann's Across The Universe nail varnish. Do you? It is really beautiful and unique, but pricy! A couple of weeks ago I was walking through an OVS store and I found this little beauty in the Essence counter. It is Blue Addicted nail polish from the Colour & Go permanent collection and it looks basically the same as his more expensive "brother"!

Credo che chiunque tra di voi conosca il famosissimo smalto Across The Universe di Deborah Lippmann. No?! E' davvero molto bello e unico nel suo genere, ma costosissimo! Un paio di settimane fa ero in un negozio OVS e ho trovato questa piccola meraviglia nel corner Essence. E' lo smalto Blue Addicted dalla collezione permanente Colour & Go ed è praticamente uguale al suo "fratellino" più costoso!

This nail polish gives a very dramatic look to your nails. It's a kind of gel texture with a lot of glitters in it in blue and green colour. Some are big and hexagonal shaped, others are tiny, just like a sort of powder. The gel base is dark blue and quite sheer.

Questo smalto riesce a dare un aspetto molto scenografico alle unghie. E' una specie di gel pieno di glitter blue e verdi. Alcuni sono molto grandi e di forma esagonale, altri sono sottili come fossero una polvere brillante. La base gel è blu scura e abbastanza trasparente.

I found quite easy applying it. I basically put two coats above my usual transparent base coat. You just have to be a little more careful than usual because you have to make sure that the glitters are well distributed on your nail and because the gel texture tends to be a little thick.

Ho trovato abbastanza semplice la stesura. In sostanza ho applicato due strati sopra il mio solito base coat trasparente. Bisogna solo fare un po' più attenzione perchè ci si deve accertare che i glitter siano distribuiti uniformemente sull'unghia e perchè la consistenza gel del prodotto lo rende un po' spesso.

Overall I'm satisfied with the result, as it is quite opaque and the glitters are many and extremely shiny. Anyhow, if you prefer a darker finish and more coverage, you simply have to apply a blue nail polish as top coat.

Complessivamente sono soddisfatta del risultato, poichè è abbastanza coprente e i glitter sono moltissimi ed estremamente brillanti. In ogni caso, se preferite una finitura più scura ed una maggiore coprenza, basta semplicemente applicare uno smalto blu come base.

The real pain comes when you have to remove this nail polish!!! It takes you ages and ages and litres of nail polish remover. This happens because of the huge glitters and makes you want to throw everything away.

Il vero problema nasce quando si deve togliere questo smalto!!! Ci vuole tantissimo tempo e litri di solvente per unghie. Questo succede a causa degli enormi glitter e ti fa venire voglia di buttare via tutto.

Essence's Blue Addicted comes in a quite small bottle if compared to the usual ones for nail polishes. Actually I like this because it allows you to avoid waisting the product. It cost about 2,50 € that's a real bargain! You can find here the Essence counters locator. In Italy you can purchare it from OVS or Coin shops.

Blue Addicted di Essence è confezionato in un botticino leggermente più piccolo rispetto a quelli che siamo abituati a vedere. NOTD Models Own in Bubblegum

As we are now quite in the warm season, I thought to show you one of the brightest nail polishes in the entire world. It is Bubblegum from the Neon Brights range of Models Own nail varnishes. It is the most fluo colour I've ever seen on nails.

Visto che siamo quasi nella bella stagione, ho pensato di farvi vedere uno degli smalti più vivaci del mondo. E' Bubblegum dalla gamma Neon Brights di Models Own. E' il colore più fluo che io abbia mai visto, da portare sulle unghie.

Probably from the pictures you won't be able to realize how bright is this colour, because you need to see it under the real sunlight. Anyhow you can think about an highlighter pen and imagine it on your nail and that's what Bubblegum is.

Probabilmente dalle foto, non riuscirete a capire quanto questo colore è brillante, perchè dovreste davvero vederlo dal vivo sotto la luce del sole. Tuttavia potete pensare ad un'evidenziatore ed immaginarlo sulle vostre unghie e questo è quello che è Bubblegum.

One warning. Don't use it if you are a shy person or if, for whatever reason, you don't want to have people's attention on your hands. Because this colour is definitely in your face and attracts the attention. That's also why I recommend it on short nails only.

Un'avvertenza. Non usatelo se siete timidi o se, per qualsiasi ragione, non volete che la gente porti la propria attenzione sulle vostre mani. Perchè questo colore è molto d'impatto, si fa notare e attrae lo sguardo. Anche per questo motivo consiglio di utilizzarlo solo su unghie corte.

Formulation wise, I liked it as it's not too thick and you can obtain perfect opacity with two coats. It lasts about one complete week, but there's one trouble. When the nail polish dries, it becomes matt, so you are obliged to put one transparent top coat to make it glossy and shiny.

Dal punto di vista della formulazione sono soddisfatta poichè non è troppo denso e con due passate si ottiene una coprenza perfetta. La durata è di circa una settimana, ma c'è un problema. Quando lo smalto asciuga, diventa opaco ed è d'obbligo passare una mano di top coat trasparente per renderlo lucido e brillante.

Models Own's nail polishes are not expensive, as you can have them for £ 5,00 which is about € 6,50 and the bottle isn't small. You can purchase them on their own website or on Asos with free international delivery.

NOTD China Glaze in Wicked Style

I know I wrote that I don't like coral shades that much, but it seems they are the absolute trend for this 2012 Spring and I somehow started to appreciate them. My latest purchase in coral comes from the China Glaze's Spring Electropop collection.

So di aver scritto che le varie sfumature del color corallo non mi piacciono molto, ma sembra che siano il trend assoluto per la primavera 2012 e in qualche modo ho cominciato ad apprezzarle anche io. Il mio ultimo acquisto in corallo arriva dalla collezione primavera Electropop di China Glaze.

Its name is Wicked Style. It is a pastel bright coral red with a pink undertone. It's not easy to show you in pictures how it really looks like. Because it is definitely a pale red and the hint of pink comes out just under a strong light.

Si chiama Wicked Style. E' un rosso corallo pastello molto brillante con un fondo di rosa. Non è facile mostrare in foto come appare veramente questo smalto. Perchè è decisamente un rosso pallido e la sfumatura di rosa viene fuori solo sotto una luce forte.

The formulation is thick, even a bit too much. But two coats are enough to ensure perfect opacity so, in the end of the day, it's ok. It doesn't last as much as you would expect, because after some days it starts chipping. The finishing is glossy and bright.

La formulazione è molto densa, perfino in po' troppo. Ma due passate sono sufficienti a garantire coprenza perfetta, al punto che, alla fine, va bene così. La durata non è sorprendente perchè dopo pochi giorni cominicia a scheggiarsi. La finitura è molto lucida è brillante.

Overall I like this nail polish a lot. I like the colour and how it looks on the nails as well. I think it's a perfect shade for spring and summer and it matches with all the current fashion trends. So I highly recommend it.

Nel complesso questo smalto mi piace molto. Mi piacciono il colore e l'effetto che fa sulle unghie. Credo che sia perfetto per la primavera / estate e incontra prefettamente le tendenze fashion del momento. Quindi lo consiglio caldamente.

NOTD Essie in Your Hut or Mine?

I sincerely don't know why I purchased this nail polish, because I usually don't like dark pink or coral colours. Probably it's because, after MAC has launched the Iris Apfel collection, all the coral shades have become a must have for the incoming Spring 2012. By the way I tried it, but I'm still not completely convinced. Let's have a look at it together.

Sinceramente non so perchè ho acquistato questo smalto. Di solito non mi piacciono i rosa scuro o i colori tendenti al corallo. Probabilmente è successo perchè, dopo che MAC ha lanciato la collezione Iris Apfel, tutte le sfumature del corallo sono diventate un must per la Primavera 2012. In ogni caso, l'ho provato, ma non mi ha convinta del tutto. Diamogli un'occhiata insieme.

Essie's Your Hut or Mine was one of the shades of the Resort 2011 collection from last Spring. It is a coral pink colour with a subtle golden shimmer in it.

Your Hut or Mine di Essie era uno dei smalti proposti nella collezione Resort 2011 della primavera scorsa. E' un color rosa corallo con dei piccoli brillantini dorati.













This nail polish is very similar (quite a dupe) of O.P.I.'s My Address is Hollywood, but it comes cheaper. The application is easy but the formulation is a bit too thick to me. I think that lately Essie nail polishes have become too thick and too opaque. I preferred them when they were a little more sheer and glossy.

Questo smalto è molto simile (praticamente una copia) del My Address is Hollywood di O.P.I., ma è meno caro. L'applicazione è semplice, ma la formulazione è un po' troppo densa per i miei gusti, Credo che ultimamente gli smalti di Essie siano diventati un po' troppo spessi e coprenti. Li preferivo prima quando erano leggermente più trasparenti e super glossy.

The result shown in the pictures is after two coats. It lasts about four days before chipping which is not a very good lasting.

Il risultato mostrato in foto è dopo l'applicazione di due mani. Dura circa quattro giorni prima di scheggiarsi il che non rappresenta un'eccellente tenuta.

It is anyway a Summer colour, so I probably will appreciate it more a little later, when the weather will be warmer, my hands will be more tanned and my clothes will be more summer like.

Si tratta comunque di un colore estivo, quindi probabilmente lo apprezzerò di più fra qualche tempo, quando le temperature saranno un po' più miti, le mie mani un po' più abbronzate e i miei abiti più estivi.

NOTD Essie in Chinchilly

This nail polish is a classic must have in a manicure addicted collection. Essie Chinchilly is a neutral colour. It is a sort of medium creamy grey in the bottle, but once applied it looks different.

Questo smalto è un classico must che un'appassionata della manicure deve avere nella propria collezione. Essie Chinchilly è un colore neutro. E' una specie di grigio medio pastello se lo si guarda nel botticino, ma una volta applicato cambia.

 On your nails, it seems more a taupe colour. This is probably because it is glossy and thanks to the fact that it's slightly sheer, its colour gets mixed with your skin's one and the shade changes into a sort of greige.

Sulle unghie sembra più un color taupe. Questo probabilmente succede perchè lo smalto è molto glossy ed è leggermente trasparente, il suo colore in qualche modo si combina con il colore della pelle e la tonalità cambia diventando una sorta di greige.

Overall it is a posh colour. Very wearable with almost every daytime outfit. Not so suitable for nightime looks.

In ogni caso è un colore molto elegante. Abbinabile a qualsiasi outfit da giorno. Non troppo adatto ai look da sera.

The quality is amazing and the application is extremely easy. It lasts at least one complete week without chipping.

La qualità è eccezionale e l'applicazione è estremamente semplice. Ha una durata minima di una settimana senza rovinarsi o scheggiarsi.

A small part of the Essie nail polishes range (Chinchilly included) is now available in Italy in Sephora stores, but the prices are incredibly high. For sure you can find it on Feelunique or Asos websites at better prices.

NOTD Sephora by O.P.I. in Dark Room

I guess this is the first time we talk about O.P.I. on our blog. As you all know it is an amazing nail polishes / nail care brand. It comes from USA and it's a leader on the market since a lot of time. Despite that, we started hearing something about it, here in Italy, quite recently.

Credo che sia la prima volta che parliamo di O.P.I. sul nostro blog. Come tutti sapete è un fantastico marchio di smalti e prodotti per la cura delle unghie. Arriva dagli Stati Uniti ed è un leader di mercato da molto tempo. Nonostante questo, qui in Italia, abbiamo cominciato a sentirne parlare solo negli ultimi tempi.

Dark Room is a shade from the Sephora by O.P.I. range which is a limited serie produced by O.P.I. in exclusivity for US Sephora stores. You cannot find this range elsewhere than there.

Dark Room è un colore della linea  Sephora by O.P.I. che è una serie limitata, prodotta da O.P.I. in esclusiva per i negozi statunitensi di Sephora. Non è possibile trovare questa gamma altrove.

Let's come now to the colour. It is a deep, super dark, creamy green. It might look almost as black, but it isn't. I definitely like it very much because I love dark colours and this is a special shade. The application is easy. I'm satisfied with the result with two coats. The formulation is very good as it's not too thick. The finish is very glossy.

Ora passiamo al colore. E' un verde profondo, scurissimo e pastello. Potrebbe sembrare quasi un nero, ma non lo è. Adoro questo smalto perché mi piacciono molto i colori scuri e questo  ha una tonalità speciale. L'applicazione è molto semplice. Il risultato mi soddisfa con due sole passate. La formulazione è ottima e non troppo densa. La finitura è molto glossy.

O.P.I. nail varnishes are a little more expensive than the average as they come at about 15,00 €, but you have to consider that they are professional products and the bottles are a bit bigger than usual. As said above, you can find the Sephora by O.P.I. range in US Sephora stores or on their website but with delivery to USA only. With reference to the standard (huge) O.P.I. line, you can find it almost everywhere in the USA and UK or online from Beauty Bay or QVC.

Gli smalti O.P.I. sono un po' più cari rispetto alla media, infatti costano circa 15,00 €, però dovete considerare che sono prodotti professionali e i botticini sono un po' più grandi. Come detto sopra, si può trovare Sephora by O.P.I. solo nei punti vendita Sephora statunitensi oppure sul loro sito web, ma la consegna è solo negli USA. NOTD Nubar in Treasure

Again, from the Nubar's 2011 winter Prism Collection, we picked up another amazing colour (not so long ago we reviewed Jewel always from this collection). Treasure is a sheer violet extremely rich of holographic small glitters.

Abbiamo selezionato, dalla collezione inverno 2011 Prism di Nubar, un altro bellissimo colore (non troppo tempo fa abbiamo postato la review di Jewel sempre da questa collezione). Treasure è un viola molto glossy estremamente ricco di piccolissimi glitter olografici.

I like this colour because it's very unusual, surprisingly delicate and shiny. The glitters, being so tiny, don't look exaggerated, but they simply give brightness to the nail polish and, as they are holographic, under the light (better sunlinght) they have all the shades of the rainbow.

Mi piace questo colore perchè è insolito, sorprendentemente delicato e brillante. I glitter, essendo così piccoli, non sono assolutamente esagerati, ma semplicemente danno luminosità allo smalto e, poichè sono olografici, sotto la luce (meglio la luce del sole) prendono tutte le sfumature dell'arcobaleno.

This shade it's very wearable, I think it is gorgeous with almost every daytime look even if you have to go to the office or to school. The application is absolutely easy, with two coats it gives the result shown in the pictures that is quite sheer, if you prefer a more solid finish then you'll have to go for three or more coats. Despite the glitter it is very long lasting and it's extremely easy to be removed.

Questo colore è molto portabile, trovo che stia molto bene con praticamente qualsiasi look da giorno anche se dovete andare in ufficio o a scuola. L'applicazione è molto facile, con due passate si ottiene il risultato che si vede nelle foto che è abbastanza trasparente, se preferite un risultato più coprente, allora dovrete optare per tre o più passate. Nonostante i glitter lo smalto dura parecchio ed è estremamente semplice rimuoverlo.

NOTD China Glaze in Ruby Pumps

Ok, today it is officialy the last day of Winter Festive Period (at least here in Italy) and this is soooo sad!!! So I thought that, as we have to come back to our daily routines, we could bring with us a tiny piece of the Christmas mood. We can wear China Glaze's Ruby Pumps on our nails and still feel a bit festive when looking at it.

Ok, oggi si chiude ufficialmente il periodo delle festività invernali (o perlomeno qui in Italia) e questo è tristissimooooo! Così ho pensato che, poichè dobbiamo tornare alle nostre routine quotidiane, potremmo portarci dietro un piccolo pezzetto del mood Natalizio. Possiamo portare Ruby Pump di China Glaze sulle nostre unghie e continuare ad essere un po' in umore festivo.

It is a bright red shade rich of red glitters. The base colour is quite sheer and this means a couple of things. First you have to apply at least two coats to let it be intense enough and second, the glitters looks absolutely brighter. In the end of the day, the result is very dramatic and I like it very much.

E' un rosso brillante ricco di brillantini rossi. Il colore di base è abbastanza trasparente e questo significa un paio di cose. Primo, è necessario applicare almeno due mani di smalto affinchè sia sufficientemente intenso e, secondo, i glitter sono davvero brillantissimi. Alla fine il risultato è molto scenografico e personalmente lo trovo molto bello.

Ruby Pumps is quite old as it was released in 2009 in the China Glaze’s Wizard of Ooh Ahz collection whose first version had already been presented in 2001.
The application is very easy mostly due to the fact that the base colour is sheer, but when applying two coats only, the glitters tend to be not uniformly distributed. The nail polish lasts at least one week without chipping.

Ruby Pumps è abbastanza datato, infatti è stato lanciato nel 2009 nella collezione China Glaze’s Wizard of Ooh Ahz di cui era già stata presentata una prima versione nel 2001.
L'applicazione è molto semplice, questo principalmente per via del colore di base che è parecchio trasparente, ma applicandone solo due mani, i glitter tendono a distribuirsi in modo non proprio uniforme. Lo smalto dura almeno una settimana denza scheggiarsi.

It's not so easy to find this nail polish as it has been presented quite longtime ago, I purchased mine on ebay from a very good seller who has not availability of it at the moment. By the way China Glaze items can be found online from Cambree or Beauty Chamber.

Non è molto semplice trovare questo smalto proprio perchè è stato presentato un po' di tempo fa, io ho acquistato il mio su ebay da un ottimo venditore che però al momento non ne ha disponibilità. In ogni caso gli articoli China Glaze si possono trovare online da Cambree or Beauty Chamber.

NOTD Butter London in Toff

It was quite a long time I wished to try a Butter London nail polish. I've been attracted by their amazing site and by its amazing look. If you have a look at their site, for sure you'll know what I mean. Delicate colours, flowers, butterflies, the crowned crow, the skull...vintage / rock style! I'm totally obsessed with it!

Era da parecchio tempo che volevo provare un smalto Butter London. Sono stata attratta dal loro bellissimo sito dal bellissimo look. Se date un'occhiata al sito, sono sicura che capirete cosa intendo. Colori delicati, fiori, farfalle, il corvo con la corona, il teschio....uno stile vintage / rock! Mi fa decisamente impazzire!

The colour I chose is Toff. It's difficult to describe it. It's a light purple, quite dusty tone. Probably somebody would define it mauve. By the way I love it. It is a creamy colour, definitely solid with two coats only.

Il colore che ho scelto è Toff. E' difficile descriverlo. E' un viola polvere abbastanza chiaro. Probabilmente si potrebbe definire un color malva. In ogni caso mi piace molto. E' un colore pastello, molto coprente in due sole passate.

Toff is from the Autumn / Winter 2011 collection, made of 5 stunning colours. I really love every single one of them. There are three more shades to be added which are the Holiday 2011 collection, we reviewed The Black Knight here.

Toff fa parte della collezione Autunno / Inverno 2011, a cui appartengono 5 colori mozzafiato. In realtà mi piacciono tutti e cinque. Ci sono poi altri tre ulteriori colori che compongono la collezione Holiday 2011, abbiamo postato la review di The Black Knight qui.

As I already wrote, the result is very good with two coats only. The product gives you perfect coverage and a shiny colour. If I really have to make a tiny tiny remark, the formulation is a little bit thick, sometimes this makes a bit difficult the application. But overall, I have to say that I really like it and I'll be definitely trying more shades.

Come ho già scritto, il risultato è ottimo in due sole passate. Il prodotto offre perfetta coprenza ed un colore brillante. Se proprio devo fare un appunto, ma molto piccolo, la consistenza è un pochino spessa e questo, a volte, può rendere l'applicazione un po' difficoltosa. Ma in ogni caso questo smalto mi piace molto e proverò sicuramente altri colori.

NOTD Barry M in Peach Melba and preview on Chanel Le Vernis Spring 2012

I'm so sad because I planned my Christmas shopping this weekend, but unluckily I've been ill and I had to stay at home all time long.
By the way, let's come to the object of this post. I recently bought a nail polish shade that is totally different for the ones I like most. It is Barry M's Peach Melba.

Oggi sono un po' triste perchè avevo pianificato per questo weekend il mio shopping di Natale, ma purtroppo mi sono ammalata e sono rimasta tappata in casa per due giorni di seguito.
Va beh, torniamo all'oggetto di questo post. Ho comprato recentemente uno smalto dal colore decisamente diverso da quelli che più mi piacciono. E' Peach Melba di Barry M.

This colour is quite new in the Barry M collection. It is a Peach colour in between light orange and light pink. Easy wearable, it's good with almost every day-time outfit, but I don't think it could match well with a night-time look.

Questo colore è abbastanza nuovo nella collezione Barry M. E' un color pesca, una via di mezzo tra l'arancio chiaro ed il rosa chiaro. E' facilmente portabile, sta bene con qualsiasi outfit da giorno, ma non credo sia adatto ad un qualsiasi look per la sera.

Sincerely it's not easy to apply it. It's a kind of thick formulation and the colour wants to be extremely covering. I would have preferred it a bit more sheer and glossy. The result shown in the pictures is after two coats and the transparent top coat. I got it from ASOS website. The price is very good and there are no shipping costs.

Sinceramente non è facile da applicare. Ha una formulazione molto densa e il colore vuole essere molto coprente. Lo avrei preferito leggermente più trasparente e glossy. Il risultato mostrato nelle figure è di due passate più il top coat trasparente. Io l'ho acquistato sul sito web di ASOS. Il prezzo è ottimo e non ci sono spese di trasporto.

This is the preview of the Chanel Le Vernis nail polishes Spring / Summer 2012 collection and the third colour from the left "June" looks very similar to Barry M Peach Melba. I don't like that much this new collection. I would have liked more to see something more original and surprising, but let's see what will happen next year!

Questa è la preview della collezione di smalti Primavera / Estate 2012 Chanel Le Vernis e il terzo colore da sinistra "June" assomiglia molto a Peach Melba di Barry M. Non mi piace molto questa nuova collezione. Avrei preferito vedere qualcosa di più originale e sorprendente, ma vedremo cosa succederà l'anno prossimo!

NOTD Models Own in Aqua Violet

I've been looking for a weird colour like this since quite a long time. I have been in love with the Prism Collection by Sally Hansen, but I never have been able to purchase one of those wonderful nail polishes. Nevertheless now I found the gorgeous Beetlejuice 2011 winter collection by Models Own and I finally bought Aqua Violet!

Era da parecchio tempo che cercavo un colore strano come questo. Mi piaceva moltissimo la linea Prism di Sally Hansen, ma non sono mai riuscita ad acquistare uno di quei bellissimi smalti. Tuttavia ora ho trovato l'incredibile collezione inverno 2011 Beetlejuice di Models Own e ho finalmente comprato Aqua Violet!

I said it is a weird colour because it is a kind of iridescent changing colour. Depending on the light, it looks green, purple or turquoise.

Ho detto che è un colore strano perchè è una sorta di colore iridescente e cangiante. A seconda della luce, sembra verde, viola o turchese.

 







The application is simple and fast. It doesn't smell good at all, but I think it is quite a normal thing. It last about one week. The only thing that slightly disappointed me, is the fact that it is a bit too sheer.

La stesura è semplice e veloce. Non ha assolutamente un buon odore, ma credo sia una cosa abbastanza normale. Dura circa una settimana. L'unico punto che mi ha leggermente delusa, è il fatto che non è troppo coprente.

It is hard to show with pictures how this colour really looks like, but I really find it original and funny. Very good for the coming party season. If you don't live in the UK, you can find it online on Models Own website or on Asos or you can have a look on ebay, where I purchased mine.

E' difficile mostrare in foto come è questo colore nella realtà, ma lo trovo veramente carino e originale. Ottimo per il periodo di feste che sta per arrivare.
