NOTD - Essie Bahama Mama

This time I want to show you off one of my favorite nail polish I’m wearing a lot recently. I’m talking about Bahama Mama. 

I have to say I was tempted to buy this Essie nail polish after reading many reviews and yes, I immediately fell in love with it. The color is perfect for fall winter time. 

It is  a deep red purple burgundy shade with a super glossy finish. I love a jelly look on my nails. The formulation is gorgeous. It is smooth, not too thick but perfectly opaque in two coats. 

This nail polish came out in Summer 2007 but it became popular among beauty blogger this year, according to the fall winter trends. 

Essie nail polishes are available at Sephora at 12 Euro in Italy but they are also sold online. Check Feelunique or Beautybay.

NOTD Nubar in Treasure

Again, from the Nubar's 2011 winter Prism Collection, we picked up another amazing colour (not so long ago we reviewed Jewel always from this collection). Treasure is a sheer violet extremely rich of holographic small glitters.

Abbiamo selezionato, dalla collezione inverno 2011 Prism di Nubar, un altro bellissimo colore (non troppo tempo fa abbiamo postato la review di Jewel sempre da questa collezione). Treasure è un viola molto glossy estremamente ricco di piccolissimi glitter olografici.

I like this colour because it's very unusual, surprisingly delicate and shiny. The glitters, being so tiny, don't look exaggerated, but they simply give brightness to the nail polish and, as they are holographic, under the light (better sunlinght) they have all the shades of the rainbow.

Mi piace questo colore perchè è insolito, sorprendentemente delicato e brillante. I glitter, essendo così piccoli, non sono assolutamente esagerati, ma semplicemente danno luminosità allo smalto e, poichè sono olografici, sotto la luce (meglio la luce del sole) prendono tutte le sfumature dell'arcobaleno.

This shade it's very wearable, I think it is gorgeous with almost every daytime look even if you have to go to the office or to school. The application is absolutely easy, with two coats it gives the result shown in the pictures that is quite sheer, if you prefer a more solid finish then you'll have to go for three or more coats. Despite the glitter it is very long lasting and it's extremely easy to be removed.

Questo colore è molto portabile, trovo che stia molto bene con praticamente qualsiasi look da giorno anche se dovete andare in ufficio o a scuola. L'applicazione è molto facile, con due passate si ottiene il risultato che si vede nelle foto che è abbastanza trasparente, se preferite un risultato più coprente, allora dovrete optare per tre o più passate. Nonostante i glitter lo smalto dura parecchio ed è estremamente semplice rimuoverlo.

NOTD Nubar - Jewel

Christmas has just passed, but we are still on holiday time. So, we have to show you Jewel. The color is simply amazing: a light brown base filled with multicolor glitters. The nail polish belongs to  Nubar “Prisme Collection” which takes the inspiration by the colourful play of light through a prism.

It is the first time I tried a Nubar nail polish and I’ve been pretty satisfied. It is creamy, easy to apply and it does not cheap easily. It lasts four or five days.

It is possible to buy Nubar on line on Beautybay.com or Feelunique.com and it costs around 9 Euros.

Natale è passato da poco, essendo tuttavia  ancora nel pieno delle festività non potevamo non mostrarvi  Jewel. Il colore è semplicemente fantastico, una base marrone chiara in cui fluttuano glitter multicolor. Lo smalto fa parte della collezione Nubar “Prisme Collection” che si ispira appunto ai giochi di luce creati da un prisma. L’effetto è sorprendente, e lo smalto sotto una luce artificiale creare un effetto olografico unico.

Era da tempo che volevo provare uno smalto della Nubar e sono stata piacevolmente sorpresa dalla sua facilità di stesura e dalla sua durata.

NOTD nails inc. in Piccadilly Circus

I don't even know why, but, up to me, this nail polish is definitely a 70 / 80 's red. I adore it! Let me start saying that nails inc. has an advantage in my favourite nail polish brands hitlist because it's English and then because each colour is named like a street or square or anyway a place in London...and, as lately I've developed a real obsession for London...nails inc. won all my likely!!!

Non so nemmeno io  perchè, ma per me questo smalto è decisamente un rosso anni 70 / 80. Lo adoro! Lasciatemi cominciare dicendo che la nails inc. parte in vantaggio nella mia hitlist delle marche di smalti preferite perchè è inglese e perchè ogni colore ha il nome di una via o piazza o comunque di un luogo in Londra...e poichè negli anni ho sviluppato una vera e propria ossessione per Londra...nails inc. ha tutta la mia simpatia!!!

But coming back to the nail polish, it is named Piccadilly Circus, it is a rich bright red tending to cyclamen colour. Actually I'm not able to state if it's a winter colour or a summer one simply because I think it's always great.

Ma tornando allo smalto, il suo nome è Piccadilly Circus ed è un rosso ricco e brillante che tende leggermente al color ciclamino. In realtà non saprei dire se si tratta di un colore invernale o estivo, semplicemente perchè penso che sia stupendo sempre.

The application is easy and the colour is very good and totally solid with two coats. It lasts one week without chipping. It dries well without making small bubbles. Once again I suggest this shade for short / medium nails, because I think it is too intense for long nails.

L'applicazione è facile e il colore resta subito molto bello, completamente uniforme e coprente in due sole passate. Dura circa una settimana senza scheggiarsi. Si asciuga bene senza formare bollicine. Ancora una volta suggerisco di utilizzare questa tonalità su unghie medio / corte perchè ritengo che sia davvero un po' troppo intensa per le unghie lunghe.

Of course you cannot find it in Italy as usual. I bought mine on ebay, as I found a bargain, but there are several websites selling nails inc. items, for example look fantastic with international free shipping, or directly nails inc. website in shop section, but they deliver only to UK, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Ovviamente, come sempre, questa marca non si trova in Italia. NOTD Butter London - The Black Knight

I couldn’t wait to show you off The Black Knight from Butter London. This is one of the three nail polishes belonging to the Holiday Collection 2011.

Among the three, this is the most peculiar one. It is a black color filled with silver, blue and pink glitters. Well, it is the perfect festive color but I have to say I am also wearing it at work place.

To get the perfect coverage, you need to apply at least two coats. Actually, it chips easily, so I need to apply a top coat over the top.

Glitter nail polishes are a trend of this winter. I found others similar to the Black Kinght: Galactic Black from Essence or Knights Armour from Nubar. However, both of them have only silver glitters inside.

Finalmente è arrivato! Non vedevo l’ora di provare The Black Knight uno dei tre smalti che fanno parte della Holiday Collection 2011 di Butter London. Dei tre, questo è il più particolare. Si tratta di un colore nero con glitter argento, rosa e blu. Insomma è un colore perfetto per le feste anche se devo dire l’ho applicato anche per andare in ufficio.

Per ottenere la  giusta coprenza ho applicato due strati. L’unica pecca è che si sbecca facilmente per cui, l’unica soluzione per non doverlo applicare ogni giorno è utilizzare il top coat. NOTD Models Own in Aqua Violet

I've been looking for a weird colour like this since quite a long time. I have been in love with the Prism Collection by Sally Hansen, but I never have been able to purchase one of those wonderful nail polishes. Nevertheless now I found the gorgeous Beetlejuice 2011 winter collection by Models Own and I finally bought Aqua Violet!

Era da parecchio tempo che cercavo un colore strano come questo. Mi piaceva moltissimo la linea Prism di Sally Hansen, ma non sono mai riuscita ad acquistare uno di quei bellissimi smalti. Tuttavia ora ho trovato l'incredibile collezione inverno 2011 Beetlejuice di Models Own e ho finalmente comprato Aqua Violet!

I said it is a weird colour because it is a kind of iridescent changing colour. Depending on the light, it looks green, purple or turquoise.

Ho detto che è un colore strano perchè è una sorta di colore iridescente e cangiante. A seconda della luce, sembra verde, viola o turchese.

 







The application is simple and fast. It doesn't smell good at all, but I think it is quite a normal thing. It last about one week. The only thing that slightly disappointed me, is the fact that it is a bit too sheer.

La stesura è semplice e veloce. Non ha assolutamente un buon odore, ma credo sia una cosa abbastanza normale. Dura circa una settimana. L'unico punto che mi ha leggermente delusa, è il fatto che non è troppo coprente.

It is hard to show with pictures how this colour really looks like, but I really find it original and funny. Very good for the coming party season. If you don't live in the UK, you can find it online on Models Own website or on Asos or you can have a look on ebay, where I purchased mine.

E' difficile mostrare in foto come è questo colore nella realtà, ma lo trovo veramente carino e originale. Ottimo per il periodo di feste che sta per arrivare. NOTD Chanel "Quartz"

In one of the previous post we showed up Graphite, one of the three limited edition nail polishes belonging to fall/winter collection “Illusion d’Ombre” from Chanel.

It is a pearled brown with silver shimmer in it. The color is stunning. It is perfect for any occasion. I usually wear it to get to office.

To get the right coverage, you need to apply two coats. It lasts about five days with the top coat. Actually, I think that it is hard to remove because of the shimmers.

The negative aspect is the price. It is about 20€ but It’s worth because It is also perfect to wear in summer.

You can find it in all the stores which sell the Chanel brand.

In uno dei post precedenti vi abbiamo mostrato Graphite, uno dei tre smalti in edizione speciale, appartenenti alla collezione autunno/inverno 2011 “Illusion d’ombre” di Chanel.

Si tratta di un marrone chiaro perlato ricco di particelle argentate. Il colore è splendido, ha molteplici sfumature e alla luce del sole evidenzia tutte le sue peculiarità.

Quartz è perfetto in ogni occasione, in particolar modo lo utilizzo durante la settimana per andare in ufficio.

Per ottenere la giusta coprenza occorrono due passate e la durata è di circa cinque giorni con il top coat. Trovo tuttavia che sia difficile da eliminare completamente in quanto le particelle perlate rimangono sulle unghie.

L’unica pecca è il prezzo di c.a. 20 Euro ma credo ne valga la pena anche perché si tratta di un  colore che a mio parere sarà perfetto per l’estate, esaltato dall’abbronzatura.

Essendo ormai uscito a fine agosto, Quartz è nuovamente reperibile in tutte le profumerie che vendono il marchio Chanel. Questo colore diventerà permanente nella collezione smalti Chanel.

NOTD Orly "Ruby"

Ero alla ricerca di un degno sostituto dello smalto Masquerade Belle di  Essie, e durante il mio ultimo viaggio a Londra, ho trovato in un punto vendita Boots  “ Ruby “ di Orly.

Si tratta di uno smalto cremoso dal finish glossy. La mia tipologia di smalto preferito. Anche se non si tratta di un colore metalizzato, come dettano le ultime tendenze 2011,  il colore è perfetto per l’inverno: rosso rubino scurissimo, che a mio parere, aggiunge un tocco di  classe ad ogni tipo di look.

La tenuta è buona , ma è necessario applicarne due strati affinché il colore risulti coprente.

I was looking for the perfect substitute of Masquerade Belle by Essie, and during my last trip to London, I discovered in a Boots store this amazing nail polish: “Ruby” by Orly.It is a creamy nail polish with a glossy finish. This is my favorite type of  nail polish. Although the latest 2011trends go for metallic colors, this is perfect for winter: a deep ruby red, that add a polish touch to any look.

NOTD Barry M "Dusty Mauve"

Ero alla ricerca di uno smalto color malva e il Dusty Mauve di Barry M. è perfetto: viola con piccoli glitter rosa. Una volta applicato, il colore risulta più scuro e i glitter poco evidenti. Ciò nonostante , è uno dei miei colori preferiti di questo inverno.

Ricorda il Paradoxal di Chanel, ma ad un prezzo decisamente accettabile (circa 4 €). Anche la durata è ottima. Dopo cinque giorni, il mio è ancora perfetto. Non dimenticate però di applicare alla fine un top coat.

I was looking for a mauve nail polish and Dusty Mauve by Barry M. is perfect: violet with little pink glitter.

Once applied, the colour is darker and glitter less visible. However, it became one of my favorite color for this winter.

It reminds me Paradoxal by Chanel but fortunately is cheaper. It is around 4 €.
