NOTD Essie in Your Hut or Mine?

I sincerely don't know why I purchased this nail polish, because I usually don't like dark pink or coral colours. Probably it's because, after MAC has launched the Iris Apfel collection, all the coral shades have become a must have for the incoming Spring 2012. By the way I tried it, but I'm still not completely convinced. Let's have a look at it together.

Sinceramente non so perchè ho acquistato questo smalto. Di solito non mi piacciono i rosa scuro o i colori tendenti al corallo. Probabilmente è successo perchè, dopo che MAC ha lanciato la collezione Iris Apfel, tutte le sfumature del corallo sono diventate un must per la Primavera 2012. In ogni caso, l'ho provato, ma non mi ha convinta del tutto. Diamogli un'occhiata insieme.

Essie's Your Hut or Mine was one of the shades of the Resort 2011 collection from last Spring. It is a coral pink colour with a subtle golden shimmer in it.

Your Hut or Mine di Essie era uno dei smalti proposti nella collezione Resort 2011 della primavera scorsa. E' un color rosa corallo con dei piccoli brillantini dorati.













This nail polish is very similar (quite a dupe) of O.P.I.'s My Address is Hollywood, but it comes cheaper. The application is easy but the formulation is a bit too thick to me. I think that lately Essie nail polishes have become too thick and too opaque. I preferred them when they were a little more sheer and glossy.

Questo smalto è molto simile (praticamente una copia) del My Address is Hollywood di O.P.I., ma è meno caro. L'applicazione è semplice, ma la formulazione è un po' troppo densa per i miei gusti, Credo che ultimamente gli smalti di Essie siano diventati un po' troppo spessi e coprenti. Li preferivo prima quando erano leggermente più trasparenti e super glossy.

The result shown in the pictures is after two coats. It lasts about four days before chipping which is not a very good lasting.

Il risultato mostrato in foto è dopo l'applicazione di due mani. Dura circa quattro giorni prima di scheggiarsi il che non rappresenta un'eccellente tenuta.

It is anyway a Summer colour, so I probably will appreciate it more a little later, when the weather will be warmer, my hands will be more tanned and my clothes will be more summer like.

Si tratta comunque di un colore estivo, quindi probabilmente lo apprezzerò di più fra qualche tempo, quando le temperature saranno un po' più miti, le mie mani un po' più abbronzate e i miei abiti più estivi.

Soap & Glory - A Great Kisser in Sweet Coconut

I was wondering...will I ever find anything from Soap & Glory that I don't like?! Probably not. I'm completely in love with their products. Every single one. A couple of weeks ago I was reading the lovely Sara Walker's beauty blog and I saw that Soap & Glory was about to launch "A Great Kisser" new lip balm range. What an amazing surprise! 

Mi stavo chiedendo...troverò mai un prodotto di Soap & Glory che non mi piace?! Probabilmente no. Adoro profondamente i loro articoli. Senza nessuna esclusione. Un paio di settimane fa stavo leggendo il blog beauty di Sara Walker e ho visto che Soap & Glory stava per lanciare la nuova gamma di balsami labbra "A Great Kisser". Che meravigliosa sorpresa!

 

This wonderful tin box comes in three different flavours all delicious and yummy. They are Chocolate Cherry, Juicy Peach and Sweet Coconut. The first two lip balms are slightly tinted and give your lips a subtle hint of colour whilst moisturizing them. The last one has no colour but a delicate pink shimmer in it.

Questa meravigliosa scatoletta metallica può contenere tre diversi sapori, tutti deliziosi e golosi. Nello specifico sono Chocolate Cherry, Juicy Peach e Sweet Coconut. I primi due sono leggermente colorati e lasciano sulle labbra una leggera sfumatura mentre le idratano profondamente. L'ultimo non ha colore, ma contiene dei minuscoli brillantini rosa.

I love them all, but I decided to go for the Sweet Coconut one. It smells and tastes divine. It is sweet and so good. The texture is soft and rich. It deeply moisturize your lips and prevents the damages caused by cold or wind.

Mi piacciono tutti, ma ho deciso di provare Sweet Coconut. Ha un profumo ed un sapore meravigliosi. E' dolce e buonissimo. La consistenza è soffice e ricca. Idrata profondamente le labbra e previene i danni causati dal freddo o dal vento.

Soap & Glory says that the lip balm contains "mango butter to moisturise, apricot butter for weather protection, lingonberry oil to boost the barrier repair (and prevent water loss) and pomegranate extract to renew your 'dewy'" and I believe them as the formulation is very good.

Soap & Glory dice che il loro balsamo labbra contiene "polpa di mango per idratare, polpa di albicocca per proteggersi dal tempo, olio di mirtillo rosso per potenziare le barriere (e prevenire la perdita d'acqua) ed estratto di melograno per rinfrescare" e devo dire che credo sia tutto vero perchè la formulazione è davvero ottima.

MAC Party Parrot lipstick - Iris Apfel Collection

Party parrot is a lipstick belonging to the Iris Apfel Collection.

All lipsticks color are pop and follow one of the trend of Spring/Summer 2012. Party Parrot is the most peculiar one. Mac describes it as a pink with some red in it. Its finish is matt, and I have to say that I don’t  like it. Especially in Winter this formulation tends to dry lips. I’d rather it cremesheen.

Before using it, I apply a generous layer of lipbalm and to neutralize my lips color I add a veil of beige lipstick. The duration is incredible, as all matt lipsticks. You can use a lipgloss over the top, but I think it is “too much” along the day.

Overall, I’m in love with this color and it perfectly suits a black total look.

Party parrot è un rossetto che fa parte delle nuova collezione mac Iris Apfel uscita in Italia a Gennaio.

Tutti i colori dei rossetti appartenenti a questa collezione sono brillanti e pop  e assecondano quello che sarà uno dei trend della prossima primavera estate 2012. Dei cinque appartenenti alla Iris Apfel  Collection sicuramente Party Parrot è quello più particolare: un rosa corallo fluo. Il finish è matt e devo dire che non mi fa impazzire. Specialmente in inverno tende a seccare le labbra, lo avrei preferito cremesheen.

Prima di utilizzarlo applico un generoso strato di burro cacao e per neutralizzare il colore rosa scuro delle mie labbra aggiungo un velo di rossetto beige. La tenuta è strepitosa. Almeno una mezza giornata senza alcun ritocco. Consiglio di applicare o come faccio io una base sotto o un gloss, ma può risultare un “po’ troppo” per il giorno.

Nonostante il finish, mi piace molto il colore, soprattutto in contrasto con total look nero.

NOTD Essie in Chinchilly

This nail polish is a classic must have in a manicure addicted collection. Essie Chinchilly is a neutral colour. It is a sort of medium creamy grey in the bottle, but once applied it looks different.

Questo smalto è un classico must che un'appassionata della manicure deve avere nella propria collezione. Essie Chinchilly è un colore neutro. E' una specie di grigio medio pastello se lo si guarda nel botticino, ma una volta applicato cambia.

 On your nails, it seems more a taupe colour. This is probably because it is glossy and thanks to the fact that it's slightly sheer, its colour gets mixed with your skin's one and the shade changes into a sort of greige.

Sulle unghie sembra più un color taupe. Questo probabilmente succede perchè lo smalto è molto glossy ed è leggermente trasparente, il suo colore in qualche modo si combina con il colore della pelle e la tonalità cambia diventando una sorta di greige.

Overall it is a posh colour. Very wearable with almost every daytime outfit. Not so suitable for nightime looks.

In ogni caso è un colore molto elegante. Abbinabile a qualsiasi outfit da giorno. Non troppo adatto ai look da sera.

The quality is amazing and the application is extremely easy. It lasts at least one complete week without chipping.

La qualità è eccezionale e l'applicazione è estremamente semplice. Ha una durata minima di una settimana senza rovinarsi o scheggiarsi.
