MAC Flamingo lipstick - Iris Apfel collection

Let me start this post telling you that buying this lipstick has been an adventure more than a simple purchase. The fact is that when I realized that I wanted Flamingo, it was already sold out everywhere. The thing is that I wanted it so bad that I decided to purchase it from a very good US ebayer, but the problems started when the parcel arrived to the Italian Customs.

Fatemi cominciare questo post dicendovi che comprare questo rossetto è stata più un'avventura che un semplice acquisto. Il fatto è che, quando ho realizzato di voler così intensamente Flamingo, era già andato esaurito dappertutto. Tuttavia lo desideravo così tanto che ho deciso di comprarlo da un ottimo ebayer americano, ma i problemi sono cominciati quando il pacchetto è arrivato alla dogana italiana.

I'll go directly to the conclusions in order to avoid boring you. I ended up by waiting my lipstick for over one month and a half, I had to fill and send at least ten official forms, send copies of my personal documents and I finally paid about 50 € including the cost of the product, the delivery, the documents delivery, taxes and import freights. So, if I can give you an advice, avoid buying things like makeup if there is a Customs clearance procedure between you and your seller. I personally won't do this ever and ever again.

Passo direttamente alle conclusione per non annoiarvi. Ho finito per aspettare il mio rossetto per più di un mese e mezzo, ho duvuto compilare e spedire almeno dieci moduli ufficiali, inviare copie dei miei documenti personali e in conclusione ho pagato circa un totale di 50 € tra costo del prodotto, spedizione, invio dei documenti, tasse e costi di importazione. Quindi, se posso darvi un consiglio, evitate di comprare articoli di makeup se c'è una dogana tra voi ed il vostro venditore. Personalmente non lo rifarò mai più.

I really cannot say that all this has been worthy, but for sure this lipstick is amazing. The colour is unique. It is truly like a flamingo and I couldn't describe it any better. It is a kind of dark pink shade with some red in it. We already swatched Party Parrot from the same collection which is quite similar, but definitely more intense and opaque. Flamingo is more sheer and delicate even because it has a Lustre texture.

Non posso proprio dire che ne sia valsa completamente la pena, ma di sicuro questo rossetto è bellissimo. Il colore è unico. E' veramente quello di un fenicottero e non potrei descriverlo meglio. E' una sfumatura di rosa scuro con del rosso al suo interno. Abbiamo già postato lo swatch di Party Parrot dalla stessa collezione, che è abbastanza simile, ma decisamente più intenso e coprente. Flamingo è più trasparente e delicato anche perchè ha una formulazione Lustre.

Another wonderful piece from the Iris Apfel collection which has been launched in the very beginning of 2012 and which has imposed the trends for the warm season. Flamingo doesn't last so many hours, but it has a quite moisturizing formulation and it looks goods with pretty every daytime outfit and makeup.

Un altro splendido pezzo dalla collezione Iris Apfel che è stata lanciata all'inizio del 2012 e che ha dettato i trend per la bella stagione. Flamingo non dura molte ore, però ha una formulazione abbastanza idratante e si abbina bene a qualsiasi outfit e makeup per il giorno.

The original retail price was 14,50 $ in the USA and 18,00 € in Europe. I'm almost sure you cannot find it anymore, but you can ask to your nearest MAC shop or counter if they could ever have any piece left.
Il prezzo originale di vendita era 14,50 $ negli Stati Uniti e 18,00 € in Europa. Sono quasi sicura che non si riesca più a trovare, ma potete in ogni caso chiedere al vostro negozio o corner MAC più vicino se per caso ne hanno avanzato qualche pezzo.

MAC Innocence, Beware! lipstick - Shop collection

I'm sure you already saw the 2012 Spring main collections launched by MAC lately. The Shop MAC and the Cook MAC collections. Don't you think they are amazing?! I love them. Some items are a little bit too bright to me, but I adore everything in any case. In Italy the selling start has been on March 1st, but the day after, a lot of things were already sold out. So be quick if you still want to find that special something which you put your eyes on!

Sono sicura che avete già visto le principali collezioni MAC lanciate per la primavera 2012. Le collezioni Shop MAC e Cook MAC. Non le trovate meravigliose?! Le adoro. Alcuni prodotti sono forse un po' troppo vivaci per me, ma, in ogni caso, mi piace veramente tutto. In Italia le vendite sono iniziate il 1° Marzo, ma già il giorno seguente, un bel po' di roba era già esaurita. Quindi siate veloci se volete accaparrarvi quel qualcosa di speciale che tenete d'occhio!

From the Shop MAC collection I purchased the most amazing nude lipstick which name will sound familiar to the biggest MAC fans amongst you, as it is Innocence, Beware! and, as you'll know, they already proposed in limited edition it in their Venomous Villains collection for 2010 Fall.

Dalla collezione Shop MAC ho acquistato il più incredibile rossetto nude il cui nome suonerà familiare ai più grandi fan di MAC tra di voi. Infatti si tratta di Innocence, Beware! e, come saprete, era già stato proposto nella collezione Venomous Villains collection per l'Autunno 2010.











It is a cremesheen formulation, which means that it's not extremely pigmented, but it is very moisturizing.

La formulazione è cremesheen e questo significa che non è estremamente pigmentato, ma è molto idratante.

The colour is a wonderful nude. It is a pale beige tending to pink. It has not that important hint of yellow, that usually you find in nude lipsticks, which can make you look a little ill. It's also got a light, almost invisible pink shimmer. It's perfect for an everyday look and it's very good all year long.

Il colore è un meraviglioso nude. E' un beige pallido, tendente al rosa. Trovo che non abbia quel pesante tocco di giallo tipico dei rossetti nude che può dare un aspetto un po' da ammalato. Ha inoltre dei sottilissimi, quasi invisibili, brillantini rosa. E' perfetto per il look di tutti i giorni e per tutte le stagioni.

This lipstick comes at 14,50 $ in the USA and at 18,00 € in Europe which is quite a high price, but it is totally worth the money. You can find it in MAC shops or counters only.

MAC Party Parrot lipstick - Iris Apfel Collection

Party parrot is a lipstick belonging to the Iris Apfel Collection.

All lipsticks color are pop and follow one of the trend of Spring/Summer 2012. Party Parrot is the most peculiar one. Mac describes it as a pink with some red in it. Its finish is matt, and I have to say that I don’t  like it. Especially in Winter this formulation tends to dry lips. I’d rather it cremesheen.

Before using it, I apply a generous layer of lipbalm and to neutralize my lips color I add a veil of beige lipstick. The duration is incredible, as all matt lipsticks. You can use a lipgloss over the top, but I think it is “too much” along the day.

Overall, I’m in love with this color and it perfectly suits a black total look.

Party parrot è un rossetto che fa parte delle nuova collezione mac Iris Apfel uscita in Italia a Gennaio.

Tutti i colori dei rossetti appartenenti a questa collezione sono brillanti e pop  e assecondano quello che sarà uno dei trend della prossima primavera estate 2012. Dei cinque appartenenti alla Iris Apfel  Collection sicuramente Party Parrot è quello più particolare: un rosa corallo fluo. Il finish è matt e devo dire che non mi fa impazzire. Specialmente in inverno tende a seccare le labbra, lo avrei preferito cremesheen.

Prima di utilizzarlo applico un generoso strato di burro cacao e per neutralizzare il colore rosa scuro delle mie labbra aggiungo un velo di rossetto beige. La tenuta è strepitosa. Almeno una mezza giornata senza alcun ritocco. Consiglio di applicare o come faccio io una base sotto o un gloss, ma può risultare un “po’ troppo” per il giorno.

Nonostante il finish, mi piace molto il colore, soprattutto in contrasto con total look nero.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick

After having tried (and reviewed) the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, I definitely felt the need to try the Lip Protectant Stick. And I have to say that I like it, but it didn't impress me as much as the cream did.

Dopo aver provato la crema Eight Hour di Elizabeth Arden (e averne postato la review), ho decisamente sentito la necessità di provare anche lo stick protettivo per labbra. E devo dire che non mi dispiace, ma non mi ha colpita quanto la crema.

It comes in a beautiful carton white / silver / red box and the packaging is very elegant. It is all white with a silver ring. It looks definitely richer than the normal lipbalms.

Viene venduto in una scatoletta in cartone bianca / argentata / rossa molto bella e il packaging è molto elegante. E' tutto bianco con un anello argentato. Ha l'aspetto di un prodotto decisamente più ricco dei normali balsami per labbra.

Coming to the formulation, it smells exactly like the cream. It is quite thick, but not that much. It mosturizes, but not as deeply as you would think. In any case it gives relief to chapped lips and its plus is the fact that it makes your lips shine. But this makes it not the best product to be put below your lipstick.

Parlando della formulazione, ha lo stesso odore della crema. E' abbastanza ricco, ma neanche troppo. Idrata, ma non così in profondità come ci si aspetterebbe. In ogni caso, dona sollievo alle labbra screpolate e la sua marcia in più è il fatto che rende le labbra molto lucide. Tuttavia questo è anche il motivo per cui non è molto adatto ad essere applicato come base per il rossetto.

I'll definitely carry it in my handbag to use it every day even because it's got SPF 15 which is a good thing. I bought it in a sale in a Douglas perfume shop, but you can find it online on Cheap Smells website at about half retail price.

Sicuramente lo terrò in borsa in modo da poterlo utilizzare tutti i giorni, anche perchè ha un SPF 15 che è un'ottima cosa. Io l'ho comprato in offerta in una profumeria Douglas, ma si può trovare online sul sito Cheap Smells a circa metà del prezzo normale di vendità.



Barry M Lip Gloss in Toff and Lipstick in Marshmallow

It seems that recently we have been talking a lot about Barry M brand, but actually they offer a wide makeup range with a big assortment of products and colours. This time I tried their lip glosses and their lipsticks.

Sembra che ultimamente abbiamo parlato molto del marchio Barry M, ma in effetti offre un'ampia gamma di makeup con un grande assortimento di prodotti e colori. Questa volta ho provato i loro lip gloss e i loro rossetti.

I love the packaging. It is pretty and attractive, it doesn't make the products seem drugstore ones. The two shades are quite good, but if I really like the lip gloss colour, I cannot really say the same thing about the lipstick one. But let's have a deeper look into the two items.

Il packaging mi piace. E' carino e i prodotti non sembrano "da supermercato". I due colori sono abbastanza belli, ma se il lip gloss mi piace davvero molto, non posso veramente dire la stessa cosa del rossetto. Ma diamo un'occhiata un po' da vicino ai due articoli.

The Barry M Toffee lip gloss is amazing. I really like it. It's a nude colour with some shimmer inside (but very few). The formulation is rich and it doesn't dry your lips. You can wear it alone or over any lipstick you want. Another very good feature is the smell which is very sweet, like vanilla and I definitely love it.

Il lip gloss Toffee di Barry M è fantastico. Mi piace davvero tanto. E' un colore nude leggermente brillante (molto poco). La formulazione è ricca e non secca le labbra. Si può portare da solo o sopra qualsiasi rossetto. Un'altra ottima caratteristica è il profumo, molto dolce, come vaniglia e devo dire che a me piace molto.

The Barry M Marshmallow lipstick disappointed me a bit, instead. The colour is definitely too pale, I couldn't imagine that, as I purchased it on-line and it seemed darker in the pictures. By the way it is so fair that I look ill, furthermore I don't like so much the formulation, as it is not so creamy textured as I expected it to be. It has completely no smell as well. I think I'll try another shade to see if it will be better.

Il rossetto Barry M Marshmallow mi ha invece un po' delusa. Il colore è davvero troppo pallido, non potevo immaginare una cosa del genere perchè l'ho comprato on-line e nelle foto sembrava più scuro. Ad ogni modo, è talmente chiaro che mi fa sembrare ammalata e inoltre non mi piace nemmeno tanto la formulazione perchè non è cremoso come mi aspettavo. E in più non ha alcun tipo di profumo né odore. Penso che proverò un altro colore per vedere se può essere migliore.

These two items are not expensive at all if you think that the lip gloss costs about 5,75 € and the lipstick about 3,40 €. I purchased mine on ASOS website and the free international delivery is included. I recommend to try something among this range because it's worthy.

Questi due prodotti non sono assolutamente costosi, pensate che il lip gloss costa circa 5,75 € e il rossetto circa 3,40 €. Io li ho acquistati sul sito web ASOS e la spedizione internazionale gratuita è inclusa. Consiglio in ogni caso di provare qualcosa di questo marchio perchè ne vale davvero la pena.
