NOTD Zoya in marina

Era da tanto che cercavo uno smalto blu navy di una totalità "speciale". L'ho trovato. Dalla collezione autunno 2011 "Smoke and Mirrors", Marina di Zoya è decisamente quello che stavo cercando. Il colore è bellissimo. Un blu polvere, con sfumature di grigio e una base leggermente metallizzata. Un colore bello, originale, delicato e molto portabile.

I've been looking for a blue navy nail polish, with a "special", shade since quite a long time. I found it. From the Fall 2011 collection "Smoke and Mirrors", Marina by Zoya it's definitely what I was looking for. The colour is wonderful. A dusty blue, with grey nuances and a slightly metal base. A beautiful, original, delicate and very wearable shade.

Il colore é veramente bello, ma c'è un problema. Lo smalto è molto liquido, difficile da applicare e la brutta sorpresa è che, una volta asciutto, tende a fare tante minuscole bollicine poco visibili, ma che comunque rovinano il risultato finale. Inoltre tende a scheggiarsi facilmente, nonostante l'applicazione del top coat.

The colour shade is beautiful, but there's a problem. The nail varnish is very liquid, it's difficult to be applied and the bad surprise is that, once it dries, it tends to show several little bubbles on the surface, they are not so visible, but surely they ruin the final result. Furthermore the nail polish tends to chip very easily, despite the application of the top coat.

Sinceramente ho provato questo smalto una sola volta, perciò darò sicuramente un'altra possibilità per dimostrare che mi sono sbagliata e comunque, in ogni caso, questo colore mi piace troppo per rinunciarci.
Ovviamente Zoya non si trova in commercio in Italia, ma si può trovare on line. Io ho acquistato sul sito di LaLa of London che, tra l'altro, mi è piaciuto molto, perciò prendetevi il tempo di andarlo a visitare!

I sincerely tried the nail polish once only, so for sure I'll give it another chance to show me that I was wrong, and then, in any case, I love this colour too much to give it up.
Obviously you cannot find it in Italy, but you can find it online. I purchased mine at LaLa of London website, which I liked so much as a web store, so take you time to visit it!

Topshop - cream to powder Blush in Pinch

Ho acquistato questo blush perchè sono rimasta folgorata dalla sua meravigliosa confezione, ma devo dire che, una volta ricevuto il prodotto (l'ho comprato online sul sito di Top Shop) sono rimasta molto colpita e soddisfatta dalla sua qualità.

I bought this blush because I've fallen in love with its amazing packaging, but i have to say that, once I received the item (I purchsed it online on the Top Shop website) I've been very satisfied with its quality.

La consistenza del blush è cremosa, ma una volta applicato, si trasforma in polvere. Il colore è molto intenso, quindi è necessario applicare la giusta quantità di prodotto e poi distribuirla molto bene per evitare macchie. Personalmente consiglio di applicarlo con le dita, rende l'operazione più semplice e il risultato è sicuramente migliore.

The blush texture is creamy, but once it's applied, it becomes powder. The colour is very intense, so it's important to apply the right quantity of product and distribute it carefully in order to avoid spots. I personally recommend to apply it with your fingers, this helps making it easier and you'll have for sure a better result.

Come accennavo all'inizio la confezione è bellissima. Piccola e compatta di colore bianco latte, ricoperta da pois neri. All'interno c'è anche uno specchietto, molto comodo per eventuali ritocchi. I colori disponibili sono parecchi ed il costo è veramente ridotto. Quindi si tratta sicuramente di un prodotto da provare. Chi ha un negozio Top Shop nei paraggi, può trovare lì questo blush insieme a tutta la linea makeup che è veramente carina, per tutti gli altri, si può acquistare sul sito che offre la spedizione internazionale a prezzi più che ragionevoli.

As I was writing in the beginning of this post, the packaging is amazing. Tiny and compact, it comes in milk white colour covered by little black dots. Inside there is a little mirror which is very comfortable in case of need. There are quite a lot of available shades and the cost is incredibly convenient. So it's a product that must be checked out! For anyone among you who has a very close Top Shop shop, it's possible to find there this blush together with the complete makeup line that is very pretty, for all the other people, it's possible to buy online on their website which offers international shipping at very reasonable costs.

NOTD Essie in wicked

Sarà che è passato da poco Halloween e ci siamo abituati a convivere con zombie, streghe, fantasmi e soprattutto vampiri, sarà che i rossi scuri sulle nostre unghie sono un classico intramontabile per l'inverno o forse è sarà per via della mia attitudine, in fondo, un po' dark, ma lo smalto Wicked di Essie è sempre bello e attuale. Decisamente uno dei miei preferiti....se non addirittura il mio preferito.

Perhaps this is because Halloween is right behind us and we are now used to live together with zombies, witches, ghosts and most of all vampires, or because the dark reds on our nails are a winter must, or maybe because of my attitude, that, in the end of the day, is a bit gothic, but the Wicked nail polish by Essie still remains up to date and beautiful. Definitely one of my favourites...or even my favourite one.

E' un colore ricco e intenso, certo, scuro e il genere deve piacere. Io lo trovo splendido. E' un rosso che tende al nero con riflessi leggermente violacei. La finitura, come per la buona parte degli smalti Essie, è molto glossy. Questo rende il colore meno "impegnativo". Anche se può non sembrare vero, è uno smalto che si adatta agli stili più vari senza eccezione, a patto che venga portato su unghie medio / corte, perchè altrimenti è facile che risulti volgare.

It's a rich and intense colour, of course it's dark, and you must love this kind of shades. I personally think it's gorgeous. It's a deep red tending to black with some slighly purplish reflexes. The final result, as it happens with the most part of Essie's nail polishes, is very glossy. This helps making the colour less "heavy". Even if you can't believe that, this nail varnish goes well with every single outfit, but you should apply it on medium / short nails otherwise it could appear a bit rude.

E' inutile dire che gli smalti di Essie non si trovano in Italia, ma si possono acquistare molto facilmente online. Per esempio su Beauty Bay oppure su Feel Unique, tanto per citarne due, ma basta fare un po' di ricerca e poi scegliere quello che vi sembra più vantaggioso.

It's useless to add that Essie's nail polishes cannot be found in Italy, but it's very easy to buy them online. For example on Beauty Bay web site or on Feel Unique web site, just to mention two of them, but you will need to make a short investigation and then choose the most favorable seller.

Un'ultima cosa, è molto importante stendere una base prima di applicare questo smalto e poi, quando necessario, rimuoverlo con cura perchè un colore così scuro tende a macchiare.

One last thing, it's very important to apply a base coat under this nail polish and, when it will be the time, you should remove it carefully, because being such a dark colour, it tends to stain.

Eos lip balm

Una cosa di cui non posso fare a meno è il burro cacao. Questa volta è il turno di Eos lip balm. Il packaging consiste in una sfera soffice al tatto al cui interno è racchiuso il prodotto.  Il mio primo acquisto risale a circa un anno fa e devo dire che il suo profumo è ancora persistente.

Il prodotto è al 95% organico e non contiene glutine e parabeni. Tuttavia, non svolge al meglio la sua funzione in quanto, pur applicandone una generosa quantità, le labbra non vengono idratate in profondità.

If there is one thing that I'm addicted to, it's definitely lip balms. So I have to talk about Eos Lipbalm. The packaging consists in a soft touch sphere. My first purchase was made one years ago and I have to say that its flavor is still persistent.

The product is 95% organic and it is gluten and paraben free.

Chanel - Base Coat and Top Coat

Noi appassionate di smalti sappiamo bene che ci sono due fasi nella nostra manicure che ricoprono la massima importanza. Parliamo dell'applicazione di una base sulle unghie prima di stendere lo smalto  che abbiamo scelto e dell'applicazione del top coat che ci aiuta a rendere tutto più resistente e extra lucido.

We, nail polishes lovers, we well know that there are two stages in our "manicure" which are of the highest importance. We are talking about the application of a base coat, before painting our nails with the nail polish we chose, and the application of a top coat which helps us in making everything stronger and extra-shiny.


La mia scelta personale è quella di utilizzare i prodotti della serie "Beauté des Ongles" di Chanel. Non sono economici, ma dal mio punto di vista, meritano la spesa che si deve sostenere.

My personal choice is using the Chanel's "Beautè des Ongles" products. They don't come cheap, but in my opinion, their cost is totally worth.


La "Protective Base Coat" è ottima perchè, veramente, utilizzandola con continuità, tende a rendere più liscia la superficie dell'unghia e a rinforzarne la struttura, prevenendo sfaldature o rotture. Inoltre aiuta a stendere lo smalto più facilmente, evitando striature, e ne aumenta la durata.

The "Protective Base Coat" is very good because, if you use it continuously, it really tends to make your nails' surface smoother and to strenghten their structure, preventing flakings or breakings. Furthemore it helps you with an easier application of your nail polish, avoiding streaks and improving its lasting.

Il "Extreme Shine Nail Lacqueur" è perfetto per dare una finitura lucida e brillante alle nostre unghie. Aiuta a cancellare i piccoli difettini nella stesura del nostro smalto e a rinforzarlo, facendolo durare fino ad una settimana senza scheggiature. Permette inoltre un'asciugatura un po' più rapida, ma sicuramente non così veloce come altri top coat, come, per esempio, alcuni di Sally Hansen. Effettivamente questo potrebbe essere l'unico piccolo difetto del prodotto.

The "Extreme Shine Nail Lacqueur" is perfect to give a glossy and shiny final look to your nails. It helps cancelling any possible tiny defect in the application of your nail polish and strenghten it, making it last up to one complete week. It also make it dry a little faster, but not as fast as other top coats as some Sally Hansen's ones for example. And actually this could be the only little defect.

Il packaging è molto bello e lussuoso, come del resto ci si aspetta da Chanel. Entrambi i prodotti sono venduti in una scatoletta elegante nera ed argentata. La base è in un botticino bianco semi trasparente e satinato, mentre il top coat è in un accattivante e misterioso botticino nero. In Italia si possono trovare solo nelle profumerie più importanti, rivenditrici ufficiali del marchio Chanel, mentre per alcuni più fortunati Paesi, come gli Stati Uniti, è disponibile l'acquisto on line direttamente dal sito ufficiale.

The packaging is beautiful and rich, as actually you would expect from Chanel. Both items come in an elegant little box which is black and silver. The base coat comes in a white milky satin little bottle, while the top coats comes in an attractive and mysterious black little bottle. In Italy you can find them only in the most important perfume shops which are official retailers of Chanel brand, while in other luckier Countries, as USA, the online purchase is available from the official website.
